Using augmented reality with speech input for non-native children's language learning

Teaching a new language to young non-native speakers is hard to keep engaging. This paper pairs augmented reality with speech recognition in a prototype called TeachAR and runs two experiments — one on English color and shape words, another on spatial-relationship words. Compared with a traditional approach, the AR-plus-speech method improved both knowledge gain and enjoyment and let children complete tasks faster and more easily.
