The effect of multi-sensory cues on performance and experience during walking in immersive virtual environments

This study examines how multi-sensory cues affect both performance and experience during non-fatiguing walking in immersive VR. Using a low-latency VR system, it tested movement wind, directional wind, footstep vibration, and footstep sounds across two triangle-completion experiments. Footstep vibration showed some positive effect on task performance, while adding wind and vibration cues significantly improved the reported user experience.
