Lessons learned: Evaluating visualizations for occluded objects in handheld augmented reality
Int. J. Hum. Comput. Stud.
Showing objects that are hidden behind other things — X-ray-style vision — is a hard perceptual problem in handheld AR. This paper reflects on lessons learned from a series of evaluations of visualisation techniques for occluded objects on handheld devices. It distils practical guidance and methodological insight for researchers tackling occlusion in AR.
