Effects of interacting with facial expressions and controllers in different virtual environments on presence, usability, affect, and neurophysiological signals

How we act inside VR — and where we are — may shape the experience as much as the content itself. This study examines how interacting through facial expressions versus handheld controllers, across different virtual environments, affects presence, usability, emotion, and neurophysiological signals. By pairing subjective and physiological measures it builds a fuller picture of how input method and setting jointly influence the VR experience.
A study of how different interaction modalities — facial expressions versus controllers — across different virtual environments affect presence, usability, affect, and neurophysiological responses, contributing evidence for designing more natural and emotionally aware VR.
