BurnAR: Feel the heat

This demonstration presents BurnAR, which overlays virtual flames and smoke onto users' own hands so they appear to catch fire. Built to run interactively in real time with high-quality graphics, it created a convincing illusion — and, strikingly, some users reported an involuntary sensation of warmth in their hands. It let conference attendees feel first-hand how AR imagery can provoke real bodily sensations.
