VR therapy for communication disorders
A virtual-reality intervention supporting therapy for people with communication disorders.
Goal
Develop and evaluate a virtual-reality tool to support clinical therapy for people living with communication disorders, providing safe, repeatable, controllable practice environments.
Approach
In partnership with clinicians at Metro North Health, the project designed VR scenarios that let patients rehearse communication tasks, with difficulty and context tuned by therapists.
Outcomes
Funded by a AUD 100K Metro North grant, the work demonstrated the feasibility of clinician-guided VR therapy for communication rehabilitation.
